Acts 1:1-11
1 Corinthians 15:6
Jesus visited the disciples over a period of forty days after his resurrection. One time, he showed himself to over 500 people.
At one appearance, the Savior told them to stay in Jerusalem for now and they will receive the Holy Ghost. They would then receive power to be witnesses of Jesus in Jerusalem, the surrounding area, and even to “the uttermost part of the earth.”
When Jesus was done speaking, he was taken up into a cloud and out of their sight.
The disciples were looking into the sky as he went up and two angels in white appeared and stood by them.
The angels said,”Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.”
Jesus will come again.
What do you think?
- Why did Jesus show himself to so many people?
- Why were angels sent to these disciples watching Jesus ascend?
- How shall we wait for Jesus to come again?
